Organizacija kolonije


... Umjetnička kolonija postala je mjesto umjetničke razmjene i umjetničkog suživota različitih generacija stvaralaca i različitog poetskog pristupa skulpturi. To je dovelo do stvaranja kolekcije više od stotinu skulptura od kojih je jedan broj trajno obilježio kulturni pejzaž pojedinih crnogorskih gradova. Tihi, skromni gradić, preko skulptura u srcu plodne bjelopavlićke ravnice pretvorio se u svojevrsnu otvorenu umjetničku galeriju.
Kolonija u Danilovgradu je širom otvorila vrata mladim crnogorskim vajarima koji se školuju na Cetinju. Takvim odnosom prema mladim umjetnicima kolonija je postala njihov najznačajniji promoter, ali to se isto može reći i za starije stvaraoce.
Kamen je osnova danilovgradske skulpture. Iščupan iz utrobe bjelopavlićkih glavica, stamen i čvrst, simbol je neuništive trajnosti vremena. Klešući ga sopstvenom mišlju i preciznim udarcima čekića, umjetnici mu oslobađaju dušu i daju život koji nosi tragove vlastitih istorija i civilizacijskih kodova.


... Art Colony has become a place of artistic interchange and artistic co-living of different generations of creators and different poetic approach to sculpture. It resulted in creation of collection from more than a hundred sculptures whereof one part had permanently marked cultural landscape of certain Montenegrin cities. Quiet, modest city, at the hearth of fertile Bjelopavlići plain has turned through sculpture into the open art gallery of its kind.
It is a respect-worthy challenge to deprive space of its exalted indifference, and by ”thinking through the form” turn a part of its entirety into a result of building, alterations and interchange of energies, juncture of powers and midpoint of movement.
Colony in Danilovgrad has widely opened its doors for young Montenegrin sculptors that study in Cetinje. As a result of such a relation to young artists the Colony has become the most important promoter, but one can say the same for the older authors.
Stone is the basis of a sculpture from Danilovgrad. Dug out from the bowels of Bjelopavlići knolls, stoic and rigid, it is the symbol of indestructible time continuance. Hewing it by their own thought and precise strokes of a hammer, artists free its soul and give him life that carries traces of their personal histories and civilization codes.

U umjetničkom svijetu naših i širih prostora odrednica Danilovgrad asocira prije svega na internacionalni vajarski sipmpozijum koji se u bjelopavlićkoj ravnici kontinuirano održava od 1973. godine. Ta svojevrsna galerija u eksterijeru za crnogorske kulturno-umjetničke prostore ima izuzetan značaj, ne samo kao determinisani vajrski prostor već i po tome što je još uvijek jedina profilisana i specijalizovana institucija u Crnoj Gori, koja prema skulptorskom mediju njeguje specifičan i povlašćen, rekla bih, zasluženo respektabilan odnos. Tim prije, septembarsko godišnje okupljanje vajara u Danilovgradu predstavlja svojevrsno umjetničko opštenje sa svijetom, koji na suptilan i sofisticiran način hodi našim prostorima i ostavlja nam vječne zapise u kamenu.


In the world of art within our and wider regions, determinant of Danilovgrad a priori reminds of the International Symposium of sculpture that has been held in continuity ever since 1973. That exterior gallery of the kind has the extraordinary significance for Montenegrin cultural-artistic spaces, not only as a determined sculptural space but also for being still the only one profiled and specialized institution in Montenegro, that fosters specific and privileged, and I would say, a deserved respectable relationship with the sculptural medium.

Uradio sam skulpturu koja je doživljaj prvog dana provedenog u Danilovgradu. Istražujem odnos sunca i svijetla. Umjetnik treba da pruži mnogo od sebe da bi postao veliki umjetnik. Rijetki su oni koji istraju na tom putu. Kada su u jednom milionskoj zemlji kao što je naša, skulptori rjetkost, zaista predstavlja kuriozitet činjenica da su dva egipatska umjetnika, ovogodišnji gosti Umjetničke kolonije Danilovgrad, porijeklom iz istog sela. Odlazim bogatiji za sjećanje na prijatelje koje sam stekao u zemlji lijepih pejzaža.


I have done a sculpture that is my impression from the first day I spent in Danilovgrad. I explore relationship between the Sun and light. An artist should give so much of himself in order to become a great artist. Only rare endure that trip. When in a multi-million country like ours sculptors are rarity, the fact that two Egyptian artists, this year guests of the Art Colony Danilovgrad, origin from the same village, is really a curiosity. I leave enriched with a memory of friends I have met in the land of beautiful landscapes.

Malo je reći da smo se tokom septembra ovdje u Danilovgradu prijatno osjećali. Bilo je to veliko iskustvo za nas. Teško nam se rastati sa ovom zemljom i ljudima. Želim da Crnoj Gori poklonim nešto vrijedno, što će posjetitelje danilovgradske umjetničke kolonije podsjećati na Egipat I moj boravak ovdje. Još kao djeca , u igri, pravili smo od zemlje i blata imitacije građevina i istorijskih spomenika za koje smo čuli da postoje u susjedstvu. Dječija igra izvela nas je na put tajni posla kojim se danas bavimo. U ovom poslu prednost je biti rođen na selu. Neprestano si vani. Živo osjećaš prirodu, materijale i oblike koje nudi. Brže shvataš stvari od djece koja su gradovima izolovana od prirode.


It is not nearly enough to say that we have felt comfortable here in Danilovgrad during September. It was a great experience for all of us. It is hard for us to part with this country and people. I wish to make a valuable present to Montenegro, which will remind visitors of Art Colony Danilovgrad of Egypt and my stay here. Even as children, during play, we made imitations of buildings and historic monuments from dirt and mud, we have heard of to exist in the neighborhood. Children play led us to the road of secrets of the job we do today. In this work, it is an advantage to be born in village. You are outside all the time. You have vivid feeling of the nature, materials and shapes it offers. You realize things faster than children who live in cities that isolate them from the nature.

Po prvi put boravim u Crnoj Gori i veoma sam pozitivno iznenađen, pejzažima, arhitekturom i ljudima. Stanovnici Crne Gore i ne znaju kakve sve prirodne ljepote imaju. Moj rad koji je četiri metara visok i sastoji se od četiri elemenata je asocijacija na arhitekturu Danilovgrada i Crne Gore. Zove se “Plastična kultura” i posljedica je improvizacija na temu savremene arhitekture, zapravo jednog koncepta koji se “može vidjeti i u Danilovgradu i u Bugarskoj”. Postavim sebi zadatak i onda eksperimentišem u toku njegove realizacije. Za mnoge, će ona biti apstraktna, ali ne i za mene koji je radim. Taj naziv je samo polazna tačka, a ostalo je improvizacija na tu “zadatu temu”.


I am in Montenegro for the first time, and landscapes, architecture and people surprised me in a very positively way. People of Montenegro do not even know what natural beauties they have. My four-meter high work is comprised of four elements and it is an association of architecture of Danilovgrad and Montenegro. Its title is “Plastic culture” and it is a result of improvisations in the field of contemporary sculpture, namely one concept that “can be seen both in Danilovgrad and Bulgaria”. I set my self an assignment and then experiment during its realization. For many, it will be abstract, but not for me the way I carry it out. Its title is only a starting point, and the rest is an improvisation on that “set theme”.

Danilovgradski kamen je mekan, upija svjetlost. Da bi se skulptura vidjela morao sam da radim široko, sa oštrim ivicama, kako to radim na djelovima svojih manjih skulptura, s tom razlikom to sam taj postupak sproveo na cijeloj ovoj skulpturi. Morao sam je učiniti vidljivom. Da je granit u pitanju, radio bih blaže prelaze i igra svjetla i sjenke bila mi potpunija. Volim da skulptura ukrašava prostor, jer ružnoga ima svuda oko nas. Hiljadama godina su umjetnici činili sve što je u njihovoj moći da ukrase prostor. Neki to nastoje promijeniti. Lično, ako bi moja skulptura uplašila nekoga, ne bih to smatrao vrlinom. Ilustrovaću to primjerom iz svakodnevnog života. Svi smo po nekad nervozni, napeti, ružni i ružno nam je, ali takvi jesmo jer priželjkujemo lijepo koje bi trebalo doći poslije ružnoga i koje je, samim tim prioritetno našem biću. Svijet treba nastaniti ljepotom.


Stone from Danilovgrad is soft, it absorbs light. In order for a sculpture to be seen, I had to work widely, with sharp edges, the way I do that on parts of my smaller sculptures, with a difference that I carried out this process across this whole sculpture. I had to make it visible. If it was granite at stake, I would have done subtler transitions and the game of light and shadow would have been more complete. I like my sculpture to embellish space, since ugly is everywhere around us. For thousands of years artists had done all in their power to beautify space. Some strive to change that. Personally, if my sculpture scared someone, I would not consider it a virtue. I will illustrate it by the example from everyday life. We are all sometimes nervous, tense, ugly and we feel ugly, but such as we are, we desire the beautiful that is supposed to come after the ugly and which is thereby, a priority for our being. The world should be inhabited by the beautiful.

U kontekstu opštih umjetničkih i kulturnih kretanja savremenu crnogorsku skulpturu vidim kao živuće narastajuće tkivo koje shodno svojim potrebama i mijenama poprima oblike imanentne vremenu, mjestu i poziciji u društvu. Od neprocijenjive je važnosti za dalji njen razvoj postojanje i njegovanje skulptorskog izraza u internacionalnom vajarskom simpozijumu u Danilovgradu, kao i kompleksno godišnje selektivno sagledavanje rezultata na izložbama poput ove. FLU na Cetinju permanentno stvara, obrazuje i definiše savremenu crnogorsku likovnu scenu, na kojoj značajno i prepoznatljivo mjesto pripada crnogorskoj savremenoj skulpturi.


Within the context of general ar tistic and cultural movements, I see contemporary Montenegrin sculpture as a live growing tissue that takes forms immanent to time, place and social position, according to its need and phases. It is invaluable for its further existence and cultivation of sculptural expression at international sculptural symposium in Danilovgrad, as well as complex annual selective introspection of results at exhibitions like this one. FLU in Cetinje permanently creates, educates and defines cont emporary Montenegrin art scene, where significant and remarkable place belongs to contemporary Montenegrin sculpture.

Među mnogobrojnim likovnim manifestacijama koje se održavaju na crnogorskom umjetničkom prostoru, svojim kvalitetom i reprezentativnošću izdvaja se Internacionalni simpozijum skulpture u Danilovgradu. Ova vajarska kolonija već dugi niz godina okuplja inostrane i domaće umjetnike, koji, klešući svoje vizije u blokovima danilovgradskog mermera, učestvuju u stvaranju i kreiranju ovog specifičnog crnogorskog umjetničkog toposa. I zaista, ono što se smatra najvažnijim problemima skulpture, zrači odatle, gdje se smisao za veličinu i osjećaj za kamen, prepoznaju kao istinska potreba da se o skulpturi misli kao o nečemu odista monumentalnom, nečemu što suštinski pripada spoljašnjem prostoru. Otuda, učesnici ovog simpozijuma, svako u okviru sopstvenih umjetničkih kretanja, išli su za nekom monumentalno- prostornom kombinacijom, u kojoj složeni odnosi oblika, prostora, svjetlosti itd., postaju udruženi u jedinstvenu cjelinu.


Among many art manifestations that are held within Montenegrin artistic space, International Symposium of sculpture in Danilovgrad stands out by its quality and its representativeness. This Art Colony has been gathering foreign and domestic artist for a long period of years, which participate in procreation and formation of this specific Montenegrin artistic topos while carving their vision in blocks of marble from Danilovgrad. And truly, that what is considered to be the utmost sculptural problem, radiates there from, where the sense of dimension and the sense of stone, are being recognized as the true need to regard the sculpture as something genuinely monumental, something that belongs to the outer space. Therefore, participants of this symposium, everyone within the frame of his/hers own artistic movements, went after some monumental-spatial combination, wherein the complex relations between the shapes, space, light etc. became united in the integral entity.

Tokom većeg dijela moga rada u Crnoj Gori, vrijeme je bilo jako toplo, i moje posjete su bile organizovane u takvim uslovima. Iskreno se nadam da će moji radovi koji predstavljaju planine, oblake, vodopade i vode unaprijediti prijateljske odnose između Crne Gore i Japana.


Throughout the most of my work in Montenegro, weather was very warm and my visits were organized under such conditions. I sincerely hope that my works that represent mountains, clouds, waterfalls and waters would improve relations of friendship between Montenegro and Japan.

Srećan sam što sam ovdje i što učestvujem u simpozijumu sa tako dugom tradicijom. Do sada su u Danilovgradu učestvovala tri ruska vajara, pa je vaša kolonija dobro poznata u našoj zemlji. Materijal u kojem radim mi se dopao. Dolazeći ovamo mislio sam da ću raditi u materijalu drugačije strukture, da je riječ o prozračnom kamenu. Na moje zadovoljstvo ispostavilo se da je jako sličan kamenu koji se koristi kod nas u Vladimiru. Istina, mnogo je tvrđi, ali baš to me i privlači. Danilovgradski mermer mi omogućava i dodatne mogućnosti u radu na skulpturi. Možete ga polirati ili ostaviti vidljivim fakture.


I am happy to be here and participate in the symposium that has such a long tradition. Three Russian sculptors had participated in Danilovgrad so far, therefore your colony is well known in our country. On my arrival I thought I would be working in a material of different structure, so called transparent stone. It was a pleasure to find out that this stone is very similar to the stone which is used back home in Vladimir. True, it is much harder, but exactly that feature makes it so appealing. Danilovgrad’s marble also offers additional possibilities in sculptural work.

U Danilovgradu sam prisutan već 25 godina. Kao student dolazio sam iz Nikšića da gledam kako rade skulptori i u miru uživam u ljepoti skulptura. Radimo sa neobičnim materijalom i u njemu ponekad naiđemo na ostatke školjke iz davnih vremena. Tada se pred nama otvori geološka čitanka naše planete i za svakoga umjetnika to je poseban doživljaj. Mermer je ljut kamen, umije i da povrijedi onoga ko sa njime radi, ali omogućuje i vajaru da kaže šta misli i vremenu i svijetu u kojem živi.


I have been coming to Danilovgrad for already 25 years. As a student I used to come from Nikšić to observe other sculptors while they work and to enjoy the beauty of sculptures at peace. We work with an unusual material and sometimes we find residuals of shells from ancient times. That is when the geological primer of our planet opens in front of us which is a very special experience for every artist. Marble is one angry stone, it can hurt the one who works with it, but it also provides the possibility for sculptor to express what he feels about the time and the world he lives in.

Čast mi je što sam na ovako značajnoj manifestaciji dobila ovo priznanje, nagradu “Drago Đurović” što je ujedno moja prva nagrada u Crnoj Gori. Dodatno zadovoljstvo čini mi i to što sam sa ovih prostora, iako sam 20 godina boravila u Beogradu, i da u epicentru kulturnog dešavanja, ovogodišnje, prvo priznanje pripadne meni–kazala je Dujović–Liščević, dodajući da su na ovogodišnjoj izložbi pomjerene granice klasične skulpture, budući da su se pojavili novi, kombinovani materijali, koji “uvjek predstavljaju izazov za umjetnika savremene scene…


It is an honor for me to receive such acknowledgment, the award “Drago Đurović” at such a significant manifestation, which is also my first award in Montenegro. It is additional pleasure for me that I origin from these regions, and although I have stayed in Belgrade for 20 years, I am in the epicenter of cultural happening, and this year, the first acknowledgment is mine - said Dujović-Liščević, adding that this year exhibition moves borders of the classic sculpture, since there are new, combined materials emerging, that “always present a challenge for the artist at the contemporary scene…

Ovom izložbom, Umjetnička kolonija u Danilovgradu još jedanput ukazuje na visoko mjesto koje zauzima u savremenoj likovnoj umjetnosti, a posebno u oblasti vajarstva, pokazujući da ima nezaobilaznu ulogu u procesu razvoja savremene crnogorske skulpture.
Još od njenog osnivanja, i 1972. godine kada počinje da podstiče i podržava razvoj skulptorskih aktivnosti, Umjetnička kolonija u Danilovgradu postala je prepoznatljiva po skulpturama na otvorenom – galerija na otvorenom, prerastavši u tradiciju nepoznatu bilo kojem crnogorskom gradu i postavši fenomen specifičan u i regionalnim okvirima.
Ova značajna likovna manifestacija, koja je postala značajno mjesto na mapi umjetničkih zbivanja u Crnoj Gori, uveliko obogaćuje likovnu scenu Crne Gore i, posebno, kulturu mjesta kome pripada, postajući pravo otkrovenje za svakog posjetioca Danilovgrada. Umjetnička kolonija već petu godinu organizuje izložbu Savremene crnogorske skulpture, sagledava i prezentuje razvoj, dostignuća umjetnika različitih generacija u ovoj oblasti.


By this exhibition, the Art Colony in Danilovgrad once again indicates its high position in the contemporary art, and especially in the field of sculpture, proving its unavoidable part in the process of development of the contemporary Montenegrin sculpture.
Ever since its establishment and 1972 when it began to encourage and support development of sculptural activities, the Art Colony in Danilovgrad had become recognizable by sculptures in the open – gallery in the open, outgrowing into tradition unknown in any Montenegrin city and becoming a phenomenon specific even in regional boundaries.
This significant art manifestation, which has become an important landmark on the map of artistic happenings in Montenegro, largely enriches Montenegrin art scene, and especially culture of the place it belongs to, becoming a true revelation for any visitor of Danilovgrad. For five years in a row, the Art Colony organizes an exhibition of the Contemporary Montenegrin sculpture, revises and presents development, achievements of artists from dif ferent generations from this field.

Mesto i značaj Internacionalnog simpozijuma skulpture u Danilovgradu odavno su utvrđeni. Kritika je pratila sve etape razvoja i rada ove značajne manifestacije koja je oblikovala poseban kulturni ambijent i iz godine u godinu otkrivala nove povode i nove kreativne pristupe u ovom vidu likovnog stvaralaštva. Za proučavanje zbivanja i odnosa značajni su razlozi i uslovi pod kojim je ova kolonija organizovana. To je bio rezultat želje organizatora da kroz dela trajne vrednosti doprinese afirmaciji svog grada i njegovog mapiranja na širem kulturnom prostoru.
Kroz ovu likovnu manifestaciju prošli su brojni skulptori iz različitih delova sveta. Svedočanstvo njihovog rada su brojne skulpture u belom mermeru, razmeštene u jedininstvenom prostoru Kolonije koje ocrtavaju novi lik grada.


The position and significance of the International symposium of sculpture in Danilovgrad were defined long ago. Critics have followed all stages of development and work of this significant manifestation that had shaped a special cultural ambience and managed to discover new incentives and new creative approaches in this form of art creation each year. Reasons and circumstances under which this Colony was organized are significant in order to study events and relationships. It had resulted from the desire of organizers to contribute to affirmation of their city and its positioning in the wider cultural space through works of lasting value.
Many sculptors from different parts of the world have passed through this art manifestation. Numerous sculptures in white marble, arranged in unique space of Colony that drew new landscape of the city represent their testimony.

Imao sam priliku da prije dvadeset godina prisustvujem sličnom dešavanju u Crnoj Gori tako da sam donekle upoznat sa ovim prostorom. Međutim za proteklih dvadeset godina osjećam pozitivnu promjenu u svemu, a posebno u pogledu internacionalizacije. Ne radim u Danilovgradu po nikakvim pravilima ili stilovima. Jednostavno pokušavam da ambijent i specifična umjetnička atmosfera sama uspostavi skulpturu. Sve kolonije u kojima sam učestvovao na jednoj strani su nekako iste, ali i različite. Takva je i ova u Danilovgradu, a bez sumnje da je njena najveća vrijednost što se sve dešava pod otvorenim nebom.


Twenty years ago, I had opportunity to attend similar event in Montenegro, therefore I am to some extent familiar with this region. However, after twenty years I feel positive changes in everything, especially in terms of internationalization. In Danilovgrad, I work by no rules or styles. I try to simply allow ambience and specific art atmosphere to establish the sculpture. All Colonies I have participated in are somehow the same, but different as well. Such is the case with this one in Danilovgrad, and without doubt its highest value is that it takes place in the open.

Imao sam posebnu želju da upoznam Crnu Goru i zahvalan sam organizatorima što su me pozvali i pružili mi priliku da upoznam Crnu Goru i da radim u njoj i veoma sam zadovoljan. Moj rad u koloniji je u obliku dva koncentrična kruga. Jedan je okrenut ka zemlji, drugi ka kosmosu. On simbolizuje njihovo povezivanje i kada bude završen umjesto postolja biće oslonjen na tlo. Na taj način on će srasti sa Zemljom, ali će i neraskidivo biti povezan sa ostalim kosmosom.


I have had a particular wish to get to know Montenegro and I am grateful to organizers that they had invited me and offered me an opportunity to learn about Montenegro and work here and I am very satisfied. My work at the Colony has a shape of two concentric circles. One is directed towards the Earth and the other towards the Universe. The work symbolizes their connection and when it is finished it will be rested upon the ground instead of the podium. In that way it will grow to the Earth, but would also be unbreakably connected with the rest of the Universe.

Prostor gde radimo je veoma blizu Zete, tako da imamo jedan stari most, planine oko nas i to je jedna krajnje specifična atmosfera za rad. Nisam još video ovako nešto i baš sam bio pozitivno iznenađen u svakom smislu. Idila u sprezi sa gostoljubivim mještanima dovoljna je da natjera i kamen da progovori. Zbog toga je i moj rad usmjeren na omekšavanje kamena, što je moja umjetnička preokupacija već duže. Ovdje sam u prilici da je adekvatno i izrazim i da kamen koji je tvrdoglavi materijal rastegnem.


We work in the area very close to Zeta river, so we have one old bridge, surrounding mountains and it makes one utterly specific work atmosphere. I have never seen anything like this before and I was positively surprised in every aspect. Idyll in connection with hospitable locals is sufficient to even make the stone talk. Therefore my work is oriented towards softening of the stone, which has been my artistic preoccupation for some time now. Here I have opportunity to express it adequately and to stretch the stone which is a stubborn material.

Priznanje koje sam dobio u Danilovgradu vidim kao potvrdu mog istraživačkog rada na skulpturi. Decenijama i godinama pokušavam da se dopunjujem. Rad koji je nagrađen dio je ciklusa na kom radim u posljednje vrijeme. Ako ga oni smatraju vrijednim nagrade u konkurenciji kakva jeste godišnja smotra crnogorske skulpture, to bi trebao biti znak da posao privedem kraju onako kako sam naumio – kaže Milivoje Babović.


I see the award I have received in Danilovgrad as a confirmation of my research work in sculpture. For decades and years I try to supplement myself. Awarded work is a part of the cycle I have been working on lately. If they consider it worthy of the award in such competition as the annual review of Montenegrin sculpture is, then it should be a sign that I should complete my work as I intended to – Milivoje Babović said.

Izložba Savremena crnogorska skulptura 2010. u organizaciji Umjetničke kolonije Danilovgrad, jedna je od onih prilika koje potvrđuju staro pravilo da je umetnost ista kao život, upravo u tome što traži večitu afirmaciju svojih vrednosti.
Veliki broj autora koji se odazvao pozivu organizatora, sam po sebi, dokazuje prvrženost jednoj umetnosti koja nije samo tehnika, već više traženje ličnog izraza i mesta svakog autora u sve složenijim promenama u savremenim vizuelnim umetnostima.
Izložba koja se po svom obimu, kvalitetu i karakteru izdvaja, ukazuje na kontinuitet sa najboljom tradicijom crnogorske skulpture ali i visok umetnički nivo ostvarenog kako starijih, tako i mlađih vajara. Gledano koz presek svih generacija, vajarstvo, kao jedna od osnovnih likovnih disciplina, prati sve tokove savremene umetnosti, jezički je perfektna, sigurna i u najboljem značenjskom smislu odražava naše vreme.


Exhibition Contemporary Montenegrin sculpture 2010, organized by the Art Colony Danilovgrad, is one of those opportunities that confirm the old rule that art is the same as life, exactly in searching for eternal affirmation of its values.
Great number of authors that has responded to invitations by organizers, itself, proves loyalty to the art that is not just a technique, but more searching for a personal expression and place of every author in ever more complex changes in contemporary visual arts.
Exhibition that stands out by its volume, quality and character, indicates continuity with the best tradition of Montenegrin sculpture but also the high artistic level of the realized both by older and younger sculptors. In retrospective of generational cross-section, sculpture, as one of the basic art disciplines, follows all the flows of contemporary art, erfect in its language, confident and reflects our time in the best possible semantic terms.
